About the Redwood Arts Council
Our History and Past Performers
Born out the love of small house concerts with traveling fine music and other artists, our series has endured three decades to become now a world class chamber music series for our whole community, but still retains a house concert’s intimacy. Our concert atmosphere is never stuffy and our artists always converse with the audience, creating a rare and rewarding concert experience. For us, the measure of a concert is how often and how deeply it moves us, both by the magnificence of the music being performed and by the powerful perceptions brought to it by the performers.
During the past thirty years the Council has presented more than 290 performances in its chamber music series, featuring such internationally acclaimed artists as Leslie Parnas, Bonnie Hampton, Anner Bylsma, Robert Mann, James Buswell, David Abel, John Gibbons, Nathan Schwartz, Julie Steinberg, Anonymous 4, the Oberlin Piano Trio, the Alexander, Borromeo, Daedalus, Contrasts, Johannes, Mendelssohn, Stanford, Colorado, Coull, Lark, Australian, Cavani, Parisii and Kronos String Quartets as well as Keith Terry, The Klezmorim, The Cambridge Buskers, The Amherst and San Francisco Saxophone Quartets, Flanders Recorder Quartet, Calefax Reed Quintet, The Modern Mandolin Quartet, Richie Cole, Rosalie Sorrels, the Bobs and Tuck & Patti. Local artists have included members of the Santa Rosa Symphony and of the Occidental Choir, Faculty from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Allaudin Mathieu, Janet Greene, Kathleen Kraft, Chaskinakuy, and Patrick Ball.
